Play 2 – 3 – 1 but more importantly,
Teach them to;
UNDERSTAND THE GAME
BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH THE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT
UNDERSTAND AND DEVELOP THE CONCEPTS OF THE ASSOCIATIVE GAME
1. LEARN TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME
An optimal player development program will prioritize the understanding of the game as a whole and not just the individual elements.
2. BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH THE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT
Do not teach the players to play the competitive format (5v5, 7v7, 8v8, 9v9, 11v11), guide them to be able to recognise their role based on the different elements of the game (i.e. position of ball, teammates and opponents; space and time).
3. UNDERSTAND AND DEVELOP THE CONCEPTS OF THE ASSOCIATIVE GAME
This will allow players to understand the game and its interactions globally, regardless of the competitive format.
KEY RESULT:
Once they learn to play soccer football, they will be able to play in any format because they will recognise the common elements and how they interact.
